The Wall Boards for Room calculator computes the number of (4x8) wallboards needed to cover the surface wall area of a rectangular structure (e.g. interior room or exterior walls on a shed)  based on the length, width and height of the structure.

  • (W) Width 
  • (H) Height 

Sheets (s): The calculator returns the number of wallboard sheets needed to cover the walls and ceiling of the room, and the total surface are area in square feet.  

The Math / Science

The surface area of the interior of a room or exterior walls of a frame is determined by the length and width of the room and the height of the framing.  From this, it is easy to compute the surface area.  The most simple computation for the number of 4'x8' wall boards is to divide the answer by 32 square feet and round up.
