The Weight of Stainless Steel Square Bars calculator computes the average weight of steel bars based on the number and dimensions of the bars, and an average density of 7800 kg/m3 for steel bars.https://www.vcalc.com/attachments/e200cad3-f15d-11eb-8eb2-bc764e203090/metalflats.jpg

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (n) Number of bars
  • (L) Length of the bars
  • (W) Width or Thickness of the bars
  • (ρ) Density of metal

Weight of Stainless Steel Square Bars (m): The function returns the weight in pounds. However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

Stainless steel is commonly used for projects where strength and superior corrosion resistance is required, therefore making it ideal for all types outdoor construction. Some variants of stainless steel are more preferable for welding than others, such as ASTM 304, 308, 316, 321, and 347.

The formula for the weight of metal bars is as follows:

         M = ρ • n • L • W • W

where:

  • M is the mass or weight of metal bars
  • ρ is the density of the metal
  • n is the number of bars
  • L is the length of the bars
  • W is the width or thickness of the bars
