Discount Calculator is a free online tool that helps to compute the percentage discount when the marked price and the selling price are given. This calculator was designed to help calculate the cash price of an item when it has a certain % Off.  Common discounts are provided, but you can enter your own with the x% Off button since there are some discounts that are not within the common range.

Application

The term discount refers to the amount or percentage deducted from the normal selling price of something. The discount means a reduction in the price of a good or service. For example, we may ask the manager for a discount if the item is damaged. This calc is designed to help shoppers calculate discounts easily and be able to find the cash price of items without straining at all.

Calculating Discount

The calculation is:
Sale or Discounted Price = price - (price* Discount Percentage) where price = price BEFORE discount

Additional Discount:

Take an additional ___% off the already discounted item.  This calculation is not as easy as just adding the percentages together, so this calculator really helps in the moment.

This is handy when the item is on sale for a certain % off and then you get an addition % off (clearance items, employee discounts/friends and family discounts, etc)

Examples

1. Winter boots originally sold for $147. Multiply $147 by 0.25 to find the amount of the discount. $145 x 0.25 = $36.75, so the boots are discounted by $36.75.

2. A shirt originally costs $20 but is on sale for 10% off.  Your final cost for the shirt (excluding tax) is $18.

Best Value:

Compare items by cost per unit of weight or volume to see which is the best deal.
