Gears
A gear is a rotating mechanical component with teeth that mesh with another gear or a toothed part to transmit torque and motion. Gears are used to change the speed, direction, or force of a mechanical system.
Types of Gears:
- Spur Gears – Straight-cut teeth, used for simple speed and torque adjustments.
- Helical Gears – Angled teeth for smoother and quieter operation.
- Bevel Gears – Conical gears that change the axis of rotation.
- Worm Gears – A screw-like gear that provides high torque and prevents back-driving.
- Rack and Pinion – Converts rotational motion into linear motion.
Gears are found in vehicles, clocks, industrial machines, and many other mechanical systems.
