The Power System Efficiency calculator computes the efficiency of a power system based on the power load and the power transmitted.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (PL) Power Load
  • (PT) Power Transmission

Power System Efficiency (PSE): The calculator returns the efficiency as a percentage. However, this can be automatically converted to a real or decibels via the pulldown menu.

The Math / Science

The Power System Efficiency equation is used to determine the efficiency of a power system. The formula for Power System Efficiency is

`"PSE"=P_L/(P_L+P_T)`,

where:

  • PSE = Power System Efficiency
  • `P_L`= Power Load
  • `P_T` = Power Transmitted
