Perpetuity is a stream of cash payments that is continuous without an end. Although this may not make sense i.e. "without end", it is apparent that an infinite series of cash flows can have a finite present value. Due to the time value for money, each payment is only a fraction of the previous. One of the most common application of the perpetuity concept is in financial theory's Dividend Discount Model (DDM).
