The Velocity in Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) calculator computes the velocity based on the angular velocity, amplitude, time and phase angle.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (ω) This is the angular velocity
  • (A) This is the amplitude
  • (t) This is the time
  • (φ) This is the phase angle

Velocity (Vx): The calculator returns the velocity in meters per second.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for velocity in Simple Harmonic Motion is:

   vx=−ω⋅A·sin(ω⋅t+ϕ)
