The Duration of Force to Achieve a Velocity calculator computes the duration required to placed on a mass to acceleration from an initial velocity to a final velocity.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (vi) This is the initial velocity
  • (vf) This is the final velocity
  • (F) This is the force applied
  • (m) This is the mass of the object.

Duration of Force (t):  The calculator returns the duration in seconds.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The math / science

The formula for the duration of time required to accelerate an object from an initial velocity to a final velocity is:

         t=m(vf-vi)F
