The Water in Basement Volume calculator computes the volume of water in an area such as a basement based on the dimensions and the time required to pump it out based on a sump pump rate.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
(L) Length of Basement
(W) Width of Basement
(D) Depth of Water
(PFR) Pump Flow Rate (e.g. 3000 gal/hr)
Water in Basement (V): The calculator returns the volume of water in gallons and the pump time in minutes. However these can be automatically converted to many compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
The formula to compute the time required to pump a volume of liquid is:
T = V/PFR
where:
T = Time to Pump
V = Volume of liquid to be pumped
V = L * W * D
PFR = Pump Volumetric Flow rate
The issue that most people encounter is with units. Some pumps are measured in gallons per minute. Others in gallons per hour, and still others in barrels per day. This calculator performs automatic unit conversions to provide correct answers in the desired units.
Time to Pump Deadweight Tonnage: Computes time to pump an amount of oil measured by DWT at a pumping rate. It also returns the volume pumped in barrels.
