This equation computes the right ascension of the ascending (R.A.A.N) node, Ω, of an orbit from the inputs:

  • nx - the x-component of the nodal vector
  • n - the nodal vector's magnitude

The right ascension of the ascending node is the angle from a reference direction, called the origin of longitude, to the direction of the ascending node. The reference direction is the First Point of Aries, the location of the vernal equinox. The inclination is typically reported in degrees.
