The Average Power calculator computes average energy required over a period of time to perform an amount of work

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (ΔTDuration
  • (W) Work

Average Power (P): The average power is returned in watts.  However, these can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

This is the formula for average Power (Pavg) as a function of Work (W) and the span of time(Δt). The standard SI units are kiloWatt (kW) for Power, joules (J) for Work and second (s) for change in time. However, no constants are employed. So, the output units will conform to the applicable input units.
