The Volume of a Trapezoid based Column calculator computes the volume of a trapezoid shaped solid based on the dimensions.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (A) Side A
  • (B) Side B
  • (D) Depth
  • (h) Height

Trapezoid Volume (V): The calculator returns the volume in cubic meters. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The volume of horizonal figure is the base area (A) times the height (h). The formula for the area of a trapezoid is:

      Area = ½•D•(A+B)

where:

  • Area is the area of the trapezoid
  • D is the Depth
  • A is the length of one parallel side
  • B is the length of the other parallel side

Volume = A*h

Trapezoidal Volume Definition

A Trapezoidal Volume or Trapezoid Pyramid is a 3D geometric shape with four trapezoid faces and a rectangular base and top.  It is a commonly seen shape in many applications in construction and manufacturing.  Examples include prisms, troughs, containers and pyramids.
