The Time of Motioncalculator uses the equation (t =(vf - vi )/a ) to compute the time of motion required to achieve a final velocity (Vf) based on an initial velocity (Vi) of an object a constant acceleration.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (Vi) Initial velocity
  • (Vf) Final velocity
  • (a) Constant acceleration

Time of Motion (t): The calculator returns the time in seconds.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math/Science

The formula for time of motion is:

      t = (vf - vi) / a
