The Surface Area of a Sphere from the Volume calculator computes the Surface Area based on the volume of a sphere.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (V) Volume of Sphere
Sphere Surface Area (A): The area is returned in square meters. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units the pull-down menu.
The Math
The formula for the surface area of a sphere from the volume is:
`A = 4 pi * (root(3)(V*3/(4pi)))^2`
where:
- A = Surface area of the sphere
- V = Volume of the sphere
This equation uses the formulas for:
- surface area of a sphere A = 4⋅π⋅r2
- Volume of a sphere V = 4/3⋅π⋅r3
This solves for the radius from the Volume, and then uses the radius in the computation or the surface area.
