This calculator computes the radius of an ice sphere based on the sphere's weight and the density of ice.
In the Bible, Revelation 16:17-21 speaks of a hailstorm that will occur after the pouring of the final seventh vial of judgment. Revelation 16:21 says, “And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent…”
A talent was a unit of measurement for weighing precious metals like silver and gold and weighed about 75 pounds. The constant for a talent is found HERE . The constant for the density of ice may be found HERE.
The Math / Science
The formula for the mass of a sphere:
M = 4/3⋅π⋅r³⋅mD
where:
- M is the mass of the sphere
- r is the radius of the sphere
- mD is the mean density of the material
so this equation solves for r.
See the mean density (ρ) of many common substances

A word on Mass and Weight
Converting from mass to weight is trivial under the right conditions. Fortunately those conditions are generally true anywhere on the surface of the Earth, so the conversions built into the vCalc unit conversion engine can be assumed to be fairly accurate unless you require weight at very high altitudes or in space.
