The Mean Velocity calculator uses the equation v = Δr/Δt to compute the mean velocity based on the distance traveled (Δr) over a period time traveled (Δt).
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose the preferred units and enter the following:
- (Δr) Change in distance.
- (Δt) Change in time.
Mean Velocity (v): The calculator returns the velocity (v) in meters per second. However, this can be automatically converted to other velocity units via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
The formula for mean velocity is:
ΔV=ΔrΔt
where:
- ΔV = mean velocity
- Δr = distance traveled
- Δt = duration of time
