The Sand Required for a Sandbag Wall calculator estimates volume of sand needed for a single bag wide sandbag wall.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (L) Length of Sandbag Wall
- (H) Height of Sandbag Wall
Volume of Sand (V): The calculator returns the volume of sand in cubic yards. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
The volume of sand needed for a sandbag wall, that is one bag wide, is approximately the wall's length times its height times its width. This equation assumes the width is one bag laid lengthwise. The width of a standard bag is fourteen inches (14"). When partially filled with sand, the width is approximately twelve inches (12") which is used in this formula.
