The Mean Circular Orbital Velocity calculator computes the mean velocity of an object in a circular orbit based on the radius (R) and the period (T).
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (R) Radius of Circular orbit
- (T) Period of Circular orbit
Mean Circular Velocity (V): The calculator returns the velocity in meters per second. However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
The equation for mean circular orbital velocity is:
`V = (2•π•R)/T`
where:
- V =mean circular orbit velocity
- R = radius of circular motion (orbit)
- T = Period of orbit (complete rotation)
