The Temperature Transfer Efficiency calculator computes the temperature transfer efficiency of an heat recovery unit

INSTRUCTIONS:  Choose units and enter the following:

  • (t1)  Outside Temperature BEFORE Heat Exchange
  • (t2)  Outside Temperature AFTER Heat Exchange
  • (t3)  Inside Temperature BEFORE Heat Exchange

Transfer Efficiency ( μ ):  The calculator returns the transfer efficiency as a percent.  However, this can be automatically converted to a real number or dB via the pull-down menu.

The formula for temperature transfer efficiency of an heat recovery unit is:

    μ = (t2 - t1) / (t3 - t1)       

    where

  •     μ = temperature transfer efficiency
  •     t1 = temperature outside air before heat exchange
  •     t2 = temperature outside air after heat exchange
  •     t3 = temperature inside air before heat exchange
