Final Velocity

The Final Velocity calculator compute the final velocity of an object based on the initial velocity, a constant acceleration and the duration of the acceleration.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (v_i) This is the initial velocity 
• (a) This is the constant acceleration
• (t) This is the duration of constant acceleration

Final Velocity (v_f):  The calculator returns the velocity at t₂ in meters per second.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The math / science

Final velocity  is described as the velocity of an object after a period of time based on an initial velocity and a constant acceleration.

The formula for the final velocity of an object is:

               vf = vi+a•t

where,

• vf = final velocity  of the object
• vi = initial velocity of the object
• a  = constant acceleration of the object
• t  = time to reach final velocity
