The Flux Ratio calculator computes the ratio of the intensity of light coming from two celestial objects.

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (f1) This is the intensity of light associated with object 1.
  • (f2) This is the intensity of light associated with object 2.

Flux Ratio:  The calculator returns the flux ratio.

The Flux Ratio  is the ratio of the intensity of light coming from two celestial objects.  Two different objects with light intensities (f1 and f2) have a corresponding flux ratio given by this formula:

                       flux ratio = f2/f1

The light intensities are in candelas (cd)
