`t = f( 1 , 2 , "L" )`
`(S)"Size of EMT Conduit"`
`(LvL)"Level of Difficulty"`
`(L)"Length of Conduit"`

The Time to Install GRC Conduit calculator estimates the amount of time needed to install Rigid Galvanized Conduit (GRC ) based on the length of the conduit (L), the Level of Difficulty (lvl) and the size (S) of the conduit.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (S)  Choose a size of conduit. These are inches.
  • (lvl)  Choose a level of difficulty.
  •  (L)  Enter the length of the conduit run

RGC Conduit Install Time (t): The calculator returns the install time in hours.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

GRC stands for Galvanized Rigid Conduit which is a rigid metallic conduit.  Rigid conduits have the thickest walls or steel raceways.  GRC can be either threaded (straight tapped) or have integral coupling.  The coating is zinc on both the inside and out.

The relationship between length of conduit, level of difficulty, size of GRC and the time to install comes from industry standard numbers.  The following table is the basis of this calculator.

      Hours per Foot Installed
Size  Lvl1  Lvl2  Lvl3  Lvl4
1/2"    0.040 0.050 0.060 0.075
3/4"    0.050 0.062 0.075 0.094
1"      0.060 0.075 0.090 0.113
1-1/4"  0.075 0.094 0.113 0.141
1-1/2"  0.081 0.101 0.122 0.152
2"      0.103 0.129 0.155 0.194
2-1/2"  0.120 0.150 0.180 0.225
3"      0.150 0.188 0.225 0.281
3-1/2"  0.180 0.225 0.270 0.338
4"      0.210 0.263 0.315 0.394
