The Wang Hihara Human Body Surface Area calculator computes the body surface area of the human body based on the person's mass(BM) and height(BH) using the Wang Hihara formula.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred mass and height units and enter the following:
BSA: The BSA is computed in square meters (m²). However, this can be automatically converted into other area units via the pull-down menu.
The Wang Hihara formula is as follows:
`BSA = sqrt((BM * BH)/3537)`
BSA is used in physiology and medicine for both humans and animals. The default input units are centimeters for height and kilograms for mass, and meters squared (m2) for the BSA.
Body Surface Area (BSA) is the measured or calculated surface area of a human body frequently used in physiology and medicine. For many clinical purposes BSA is a better indicator of metabolic mass than body weight because it is less affected by abnormal adipose mass. Estimation of BSA is simpler than many measures of volume.
