The Area of a Ceiling calculator computes the area of a ceiling (light grey in diagram) over a rectangular room based on the length and width of the room. 

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (l)  Length of Room under the ceiling.
• (w) Width of Room under the ceiling.

Ceiling Area (C_A): The calculator returns the area in square feet.  However this can be automatically converted into other area units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The surface area of a ceiling in a normal shaped room, one with four corners, is equal to the area calculated as follows:

A = L x W

where:

• A = Surface Area of Ceiling
• L = Length of Room under the Ceiling
• W = Width of Room under the Ceiling
