The Nautical Travel Cost calculator computes the cost to travel a distance based on the cost to travel a unit amount (e.g., $4.50 per nautical mile) and the distance to be traveled (e.g., 460 nautical miles).

Nautical Travel Cost (TC): The costs are returned in U.S. dollars.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The Nautical Travel Cost equation computes the cost to travel a distance at an expense rate.  The formula is:

TC = DT * (CPD/UD)

where:

• TC = Total Cost to Travel Distance
• DT = Distance Traveled
• CPD = Cost Per Unit Distance
• UD = Unit Distance
