The Time to Pump Volume calculator computes the time required to pump a volume of liquid (V) based on the pump flow rate (PFR).
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
(V) Total Volume of Liquid (e.g. Oil)
(PFR) Pump Flow Rate (e.g. 2600 barrels/day)
Time to Fill (t): The calculator returns the pump time in minutes. However this can be automatically converted to many compatible units (e.g. seconds, hours, days) via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
The formula to compute the time required to pump a volume of liquid is:
T = V/PFR
where:
T = Time to Pump
V = Volume of liquid to be pumped
PFR = Pump Volumetric Flow rate
The issue that most people encounter is with units. Some pumps are measured in gallons per minute. Others in gallons per hour, and still others in barrels per day. This calculator performs automatic unit conversions to provide correct answers in the desired units.
Time to Pump Deadweight Tonnage: Computes time to pump an amount of oil measured by DWT at a pumping rate. It also returns the volume pumped in barrels.
