The Sand for Circular Sandbox calculator computes the number of standard bags (0.5 ft³) and the total volume in cubic yards of sand to fill a circular sandbox based on the dimensions.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
(d) Diameter of the sandbox
(h) Depth of sand in the sandbox
Volume of Sand (V): The calculator returns the number of bags of play sand and volume of sand in cubic yards. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
Sand for Circular Sandbox: Estimates amount of sand needed for circular sandbox based on dimensions.
Sand for Octagon Sandbox: Estimates amount of sand needed for octagon shaped sandbox based on dimensions.
Bags of Play Sand: Estimates the number of bags of play sand needed for a volume (e.g., 2 cubic yards) of sand.
Cost of Play Sand: Computes the cost of a volume of play sand based on the volume and unit price per cubic foot.
Sand Weight: Estimates the weight of a volume of sand.

Sandboxes
If you've never had a sandbox before, there are few things to consider. First, sandboxes are a lot of fun and can keep your kids busy in a constructive way for long time. However, they will be covered with sand after playing. Also, unless your sandbox has a sun cover, your children will get a lot of sun. Consider generous application of Sun screen. Also, your sandbox should be porous with the ground. You don't want water to accumulate in the sand. Moist sand is fun to play with. Water saturated sand just gets you wet, and weighs a lot. Last, but not least, you will want to cover your sandbox at night. Animals, especially cats, may treat your sandbox as a latrine, and no one wants their children playing in that.
One should always use local pricing when available. Typically a bag of play sand is 1/2 a cubic foot, so twice the price will give you the local unit price for a cubic foot of play sand. However, for convenience, vCalc performs a periodic survey of commodities such as play sand. The most recent play sand survey was as follows:
Sand for Rectangular Sandbox: Computes the number of standard bags (0.5 ft³) , the total volume and dry weight of sand to fill a square or rectangular
Sand for Circular Sandbox: Computes the number of standard bags (0.5 ft³) and the total volume in cubic yards of sand to fill a circular sandbox based on the dimensions.
Bags of Play Sand: Computes how many bags of sand will be needed for the specified volume.
Concrete Mix: Computes volume and weight of cement, sand, gravel and water requires to make a volume of concrete.
Sand for a Volleyball Court: Computes the volume of sand needed for a volleyball court based on the court's dimensions and the total price of the sand based on the cost per ton.
