The Fenbendazole Dewormer for Puppies and Dogs calculator compute the amount of wormer needed for a puppy or dog based on the animal's weight. 

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (w) Weight of Puppy or Dog

Fenbendazole Dewormer Dose (D): The calculator returns the dosage in millimeters (mL). However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

IMPORTANT: This dosage calculator is for Safeguard Goat Dewormer on puppies and dogs.

Safeguard 10% suspension fluid is labeled for goats and cattle but can safely be used on dogs.  Fenbendazole is found in Safeguard and Panacur. 

Puppies

Puppies should start Safeguard at 6 weeks of age.  Before then , use pyrantel pamoate.  You can find a pyrantel pamoate dosage calculator here!

Give dosage once a day for 3 consecutive days.   Do this every 2 weeks from 6 weeks of age to 12 weeks.

Dogs

Give dosage to dogs once a day for 3 consecutive days.   Do this every 3-6 months and more often in a breeding environment.

1 mL per 2.2 pounds , or 1 m per 1 kg
