Wavelength (velocity/freqency)

The Wavelength calculator computes the length of a wave based on the velocity of the wave (v) and the frequency (f).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (v) This is the velocity of wave
• (f) This is the frequency of the wave.

Wavelength (λ):  The wavelength is returned in meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the wavelength based on velocity and frequency is:

           λ = v/f

where:

• λ is the wavelength or distance between pulses
• v is the velocity of the wave
• f is the frequency of the wave
