The Stress calculator computes the stress on the cross section of a member experiencing uniaxial loading.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (P) Loading or force applied
- (A) Cross-sectional area
Stress (σ): The calculator returns the stress in newtons per square centimeter. However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The formula for stress is:
σ = P / A
where:
- σ is the stress
- P is the force of the load
- A is the cross-section area.
