The Volume of Concrete in a Circular Pier calculator computes the volume of concrete for a circular pier (column) based on the width and height of the column.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
- (h) Height of Column or Pier
- (w) Width (diameter) of Column or Pier
- (n) Number of Columns or Piers
Concrete Volume (V): The calculator returns the volume in cubic yards. However this can be automatically converted to other volume units via the pull-down menu. The calculator also returns the equivalent volume in:
- 80 pound bags of concrete
- 60 pound bags of concrete
- 40 pound bags of concrete
The Math / Science
The formula for the volume of a circular column is:
V = π•r²•h•n
where:
- V = Volume of the column
- r = radius of the base
- h = height of the column
- n = number of columns or piers
