INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following information:

Containers of Ground Coffee: The calculator returns the number of containers of dried ground coffee needed.

Cup Sizes

A typical fine china coffee cup like the Old English Lace cup in the picture is one cup filled to the brim.  This size is often used in fine restaurants and at formal events like weddings.  Coffee mugs go from 1.5 cups (see the Empire State Building Mug) to 2.0 cups (see larger mug) and up.

Uses

Coffee is often served at large events.  This calculator help the hosts determine how much coffee to buy in advance.  Coffee is commonly served at:

  • Business Meetings at coffee stations in the back of the room
  • Formal Dinners during and after the meal
  • Informal Meals at camps (e.g. scouts, soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines)
  • Conventions at coffee kiosks
  • Weddings during and after the wedding reception.

The examples in this calculator use common coffees such as Folger's.  However the formulas work for other qualities of coffee from the very highest to the lowest.
