The Feet and Inches Diagonal calculator computes the diagonal of a rectangular area based on the length and width. Rectangular Area
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
(W) Width of Rectangle Area
(L) Length of Rectangle Area
Diagonal (D): The calculator return the length of the diagonal in feet and inches. However, this can be automatically converted to other length units (e.g. meters) via the pull-down menu.
The Math / Science
If you want square corners in your fenced area, the simplest ways is to compute the diagonal and use is when placing corner posts.
To make a fence area with square corners:
place the post in corners 1 and 2. This defines the length (l).
determine the width you wish (w)
compute the diagonal with this calculator (D)
walk off the width in approximately the right direction to make corner #2 square.
Measure the diagonal from corner #3 to corner #1.
Adjust corner #3. Move corner #3 to the left if real diagonal is too short. Move corner #3 towards the right if the real diagonal is too long. Do this unit the diagonal matches the computed value.
Perimeter of a Rectangular Shaped Area computes the length of a fence perimeter in a rectangular shaped area base on the length (l) and width (w) of the area.
Diagonal of Rectangle Areacomputes the diagonal measurement of a rectangular area. This is useful in ensuring that your area has square corners.
Three Sided Land Fencing: Computes the number of fencing segments or posts needed to go around a three sided fence area.
Circular Fence Calc computes the diameter, number of posts, rails, perimeter and area of a circular shaped fenced area (paddock).
Fencing Needed for Polygon Area: Computes the area and side length enclosed within a polygon (e.g. octagon) shaped area (paddock).
Area Fenced in Polygon: Computes the area enclosed in polygon (e.g., 12 sided) fence area based on the length and number of individual sides.
Fencing Needed for Circular Areacomputes the number of posts, number of sections, sides or panels, number of rail boards, perimeter and area of a ROUGHLY CIRCULAR shaped area (paddock) based on a diameter and length of sides.
Garden Fence: Computes the number of T-posts and length of fencing needed based on the garden dimensions, separation of the T Posts and the length of the fencing in the flexible rolls.
