The Wild Rice-to-Water Ratio calculator computes the amount of water in which one cooks wild rice. 

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred units and enter the following:

  • (dwr) Amount of dry wild rice.

Water (w): The calculator returns the amount of water in:

  • cups
  • fluid ounces
  • liters
  • grams

However, these can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menus.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Bring water or stock to boil.
  2. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  3. Add wild rice and cover.
  4. Cook for 40 to 45 minutes or until rice kernels open.
  5. Uncover and leave to steam off of heat for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Drain remaining water.
