The Pricing Artwork by Linear Inch calculator calculates what the price a piece of art should be based on the linear area of the piece.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
PRICE (P): The result will be returned in U.S. Dollars and can be converted to any of our currency units from the dropdown.
The formula for Pricing Artwork by Linear Inch is:
P = (L + W) * LCM
where:
It is common for inexperienced artists to have difficulty determining a fair price for their work. To help with this there are several different formulas that have been developed to aid in the process by setting some concrete parameters to take the guess work out of the equation. This method determines the cost by Adding the length and the width together and then multiplying this by a multiplier. This method can be easier for customers to understand than the price by square inch method because there is not as large of a gap between the largest and smallest painting. This method also does not include cost of materials separately. Everything should be built into the linear inch multiplier that you choose. For instance, if you choose a 15 dollar multiplier a 5x5in painting will cost $150 and a 60x60 painting will cost $1800.
