The Pricing Artwork by Hourly Wage calculator calculates the price a piece of art should cost based on the hourly wage the artists wants to make and the time they spent creating the piece.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
Artwork Total Cost (price): The result will be returned in U.S. Dollars and can be converted to any of our currency units from the dropdown.
It is common for inexperienced artists to have difficulty determining a fair price for their work. To help with this there are several different formulas that have been developed to aid in the process by setting some concrete parameters to take the guess work out of the equation. This method is the simplest and all it does is calculate the value based on the hourly rate the artist wants multiplied by the time spent, plus the cost of materials. This method can be one of the best for new artists. If you are not sure what you should be using for the hourly rate it might be helpful to look at what other artists are charging for pieces made with similar methods to yours. You can then estimate how long their pieces would take you to make and work backwards to estimate their hourly rate.
