The Relativistic Momentum calculator computes the momentum (p) as function of the mass (m), relativity factor (γ), and the velocity (v)
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose the preferred units and enter the following:
- (m) This is the mass
- (γ) This is the relativity factor.
- (v) This is the velocity
Relativistic Momentum (p): The momentum is returned in kilograms meters per second (kg•m/s).
The Math / Science
The Relativistic Momentum is found using the following formula:
p = m•γ•v
where:
- m = mass
- γ = relativity
- v = velocity
Mass-Energy-Light Calculators
- E = m•c² (mass/energy equivalent)
- m = E/c² (mass from energy)
- E = m•γ•c² (mass/energy equivalent not at rest)
- E = h•ν (Quantum Energy)
- p = m•γ•v (Relativistic Momentum)
- c (Speed of light) = 2.99792458E8 m/s
- c² (Speed of Light Squared) = 931.46 MeV/u
- Lorentz factor (γγ)
- KE ≈ m(1+v²/(2c²)-1)c² (Relativistic Kinetic Energy)
