The Math / Science

The mole fraction^[1] is an equation which computes the fraction (in moles) of a substance from a mixture. The mole fraction, just like the mass fraction, is moles of substance A over a total amount of moles present. 

The mole fraction formula is:

  `x_a =n_a/(n_a+n_b)`

where:

• x_a = mole fraction
• n_a = moles in solute A
• n_b = moles in solvent B
