The Production Calculator computes the cost in time or capital to buy, produce or consume commodities measured by number of units or by length, area, volume or weight. It computes the cost in time or capital based on a production or consumption rate using multiple currencies and multiple base units.
PRICE or Production Time by Units
- Time for Units: This computes the time to process a number of units (T) based on the set time (P) to process a standard number of units (N). For example, if your factory puts out 25,000 units (N) every 18 hours (P), this will compute the time required to produce 1.5 million (X) units.
- Units over Time: This compute the number of units processed (X) over a period of time (T) based on the standard number of units (N) produced over a regular time period (P).
- Total Cost of Units: This computes the total cost (TC) based on the number of units (X) and the cost of a single unit (UC). This includes automatic currency conversions, so you can compute your answer in U.S. dollars when the unit costs are in Yuan or any of significant number of currencies (Canadian dollars, Mexican pesos, Brazilian Reals, Euros, Great British Pounds, Swiss Francs, South African Rands, Indian Rupees, Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen, and Australian Dollars)
- Unit Cost: This computes the Average Unit Cost based on the total cost (TC) and the quantity of goods (N).
PRICE or Production Time by LENGTH
- Price per Length or Distance : This computes the total cost for something measured by length or distance (e.g. length of cable or distance of roads paved). Enter the total length or distance you want, the Unit Price (e.g. $2.99) per Unit Length (e.g. 4.6 meters), and the calculator will compute the cost for the total length.
- Length over Time : This computes the total length processed or traveled over time based on the time and the rate (e.g. 20 minutes at 4.5 kilometers per day). The lengths are returned in meters. However this can be automatically converted to other length units (e.g. inches, feet or miles) via the pull-down menu.
- Time for Length : This compute how much time it will take to process or travel a specific length or distance based at a rate (e.g. 626 feet at 1.2 inches per minute). The time is returned in hours. However, this can be automatically converted to other time units (e.g. seconds or months) via the pull-down menu.
PRICE or Production Time by AREA
- Price per Area : This computes the total cost for something measured by Area (e.g. area of fabric or flooring). Enter the total area you want, the Unit Price (e.g. $2.99) per Unit Area (e.g. 4.6 square meters), and the calculator will compute the cost for the total area.
- Area over Time : This computes the total area processed or traveled over time based on the time and the rate (e.g. 20 minutes at 4.5 square feet per day). The areas are returned in square meters. However this can be automatically converted to other area units (e.g. square feet or acres) via the pull-down menu.
- Time for Area : This compute how much time it will take to process a specific area based at a rate (e.g. 626 square feet at 1.2 square inches per minute). The time is returned in hours. However, this can be automatically converted to other time units (e.g. seconds or months) via the pull-down menu.
PRICE or Production Time by VOLUME
- Price per Volume : This computes the total cost for something measured by Volume (e.g. gallons of liquid or cubic yards of concrete). Enter the total volume you want, the Unit Price (e.g. €2.99) per Unit Volume (e.g. 4.6 cubic yards), and the calculator will compute the cost for the total volume.
- Volume over Time : This computes the total volume processed over time based on the time and the rate (e.g. 20 minutes at 4.5 gallons per day). The volumes are returned in cubic meters. However this can be automatically converted to other volume units (e.g. cubic feet or liters) via the pull-down menu.
- Time for Volume : This compute how much time it will take to process a specific volume based at a rate (e.g. 626 cubic feet at 1.2 cubic inches per minute). The time is returned in hours. However, this can be automatically converted to other time units (e.g. seconds or months) via the pull-down menu.
PRICE or Production Time by WEIGHT or MASS
- Price per Weight or Mass : This computes the total cost for something measured by weight or mass (e.g. pounds or kilograms of chemicals). Enter the total weight or mass you want, the Unit Price (e.g. £2.99) per Unit Weight or Mass (e.g. 4.6 kilograms), and the calculator will compute the cost for the total weight or mass.
- Weight or Mass over Time : This computes the total weight or mass processed over time based on the time and the rate (e.g. 20 minutes at 4.5 ounces per day). The mass is returned in kilograms. However this can be automatically converted to other weight or mass units (e.g. pounds, tons) via the pull-down menu.
- Time for Weight or Mass : This computes how much time it will take to process a specific weight or mass based at a rate (e.g. 626 pounds at 1.2 grams per minute). The time is returned in hours. However, this can be automatically converted to other time units (e.g. seconds or months) via the pull-down menu.
Amdahl's Law: This computes the speedup factor for the execution of a total task based on the speedup factor of a portion of the task and the percent of that portion in relation to the total task.
Uses for this Calculator
This calculator helps answer questions like the following:
- How much will 24.2 kilos of a product (e.g. ground beef) cost in Euros at $2.99 (U.S.) per pound?
- How much will 120 square feet cost in Pounds Sterling (£) for a product (e.g. silk fabric) that costs ¥25.43 Chinese Yuan per square meter?
- How long will it take to process 4,600 gallons of a product (e.g. milk) when I can process 450 liters per day?
This calculator makes these and many more calculations trivial by letting you choose your units (length, area, volume, weight and even currency), enter your numbers and get a reliable answer. NOTE:All currencies whether input costs or output prices have a default of U.S. dollars (USD). However, the user can automatically convert this via the pull-down menu.
