Acoustics

Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of all mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids including topics such as vibration, sound, ultrasound and infrasound.  The application of acoustics is present in almost all aspects of modern society with the most obvious being the audio and noise control industries. Some of the field of acoustics include Aeroacoustics, Archaeoacoustics, Bioacoustics, Electroacoustics, Psychoacoustics, Musical acoustics, Underwater acoustics, Architectural acoustics, Structural acoustics, etc.

Scientists who work in the field of acoustics are known as acousticians whereas  acoustical engineers refer to the people who work in the field of acoustics technology. Both acousticians and acoustical engineers require good grounding in Mathematics and Science.

vCalc's Acoustics library contains formulas drawn from the various acoustics fields.
