This is the first flattening factor of the Earth ellipsoid in the WGS-84 reference system. It describes the measure of compression of the polar radius compared to the Equatorial radius. This is a ratio - a unitless number.
The flattening factor is computed as a function of the Earth's Polar Radius and the Earth's Equatorial Radius as follows:
- Er = 6378137.0 m // Earth WGS-84 Equatorial radius in meters
- Pr = 6356752.31424518 m // Earth WGS-84 Polar radius in meters
- F = (Er - Pr)/Er // flattening factor
