The Percentile calculator computes the percentile associated with one observation (y) in a population of number values (x).

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (x) Set of comma separated numeric values (e.g. 4,-1.2,8,9 )
  • (y) Single Observation

Percentile: The calculator returns the percentile which is the percent of objects in the group x that are below the value y.  This Percentile calculator is a prominent feature with other statistical functions in the College Level Statistics Calculator (Stat Calc).

The Math

The formula for the percentile is as follows:

        PRy=B+12En (100)     where:

  • B is the number of raw scores in set X below y
  • E is the number of raw scores equal to y including y.
  • n is the total number of raw scores in set X.
