The Time to Produce, Consume or Covere a Length calculator computes the the period (p) of production or consumption for a total linear distance or length produced or consumed, based on the total length (l) and a rate of processing. The rate is based on a unit of length (lU) and the time to produce or consume the unit (dU) (e.g. 2.6 nautical miles ever 23.4 hours)
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred length and time units and enter the following:
- (lU) This is the unit length (e.g. 40 feet per unit)
- (dU) This is the amount of time to process one unit length (e.g. 2.3 minutes)
- (l) This is the total length desired (e.g. 2.2 miles)
The Time to Produce a Length calculator computes the amount of time in seconds (s). However, this can be automatically converted to other duration units (e.g. days, months, years) via the pull-down menu. The Math / Science
Production examples:
- Cable company wants to know how long it will take to install 135 yards of cable if it can burry 450 yards(lU) of cable every 5 days(dU). This calculator will compute 36 hours (p).
- The captain of a ship wants to know how long it will take to go 610 nautical miles (NMI) if the ship sales at a rate of 122 nautical miles(lU) at sea every day(dU). This calculator computes five days (p).
Consumption examples:
- A fabric factory wants to know how long it will take to use up a 19.2 meter spool of special silk thread if it is consumed at an average rate of 7800 meters(lU) of silk thread every month (dU). This calculator computes 18 hour (p).
- A country wants to know how long it will take to loses 378 kilometers of its coast line to rising sea levels if it has determined a rate of loss of 12.6 km(lU) of coastline every year(dU). This calculator computes an answer of 30 years (p).
Production Calculator
The Production Calculator computes the cost in time or capital to buy, produce or consume commodities measured by number of units or by length, area, volume or weight. It provides automatic conversions between different units for time, length, area, volume, mass and up to date currency conversions between several international currencies.
