The Time to Cover, Produce or Consume an Area calculator computes the amount of time needed to produce or consume and area based the rate (area per time unit) and the total area (a) of production or consumption. The rate is the unit of area (aU) and the time to produce or consume the unit (dU) (e.g. 2.2 km2/ 5 years).
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose your preferred area and time units and enter the following:
- (aU) Unit Area amount (e.g. 2.3 square yards)
- (dU) Time to Process a unit area amount (e.g. 1.2 milliseconds)
- (TA) Total Area to be processed (e.g. 42 square kilometers)
Time for Area (P): The calculator will compute the total amount of time to process the area in seconds. However, this can be automatically converted to other time units (e.g. minutes, hours, days or years) via the pull-down menu. To compute the Total Area processed over a period of Time, CLICK HERE.
Production and consumption of materials over time can be estimated or measured based on the average production or consumption rate of a unit. This calculator compute the time required to produce or consume based on the rate and total area.
Production Calculator
The Production Calculator computes the cost in time or capital to buy, produce or consume commodities measured by number of units or by length, area, volume or weight. It provides automatic conversions between different units for time, length, area, volume, mass and up to date currency conversions between several international currencies.

Area Units
Area is a two dimensional quantity, and can be computed by the product of two orthogonal lengths (A = l • w ). The area units available in the calculator include the following:
vCalc's Area Units | ||
(mm2) square micrometers | (mm2) square millimeters
(cm2) square centimeters | (in2) square inch
(ft2) square feet | are | |
(yd2) square yard | (m2) square meters
hectare | acres | |
(km2) square kilometers | (mi2) square mile |

Example
Production examples:
- Paving company that paves (a) 21,600 square yards (4.46 acres) at a rate of 450 square yards(aU) of black-top every 45 minutes (dU). This calculator can tell you how long it will take at that rate which is 36 hours (t).
- Circuitry factory wants to know how long it will take to produce 976 cm2 (151.28 in2) of circuitry if it can print 12.2 square centimeters(aU) of microchips every 90 minutes(dU). This calculator can tell you five days (t).
