Weight Lifting
Weight lifting, also known as resistance training or strength training, is a form of exercise that involves lifting weights to improve muscle strength, endurance, and overall fitness. Weight lifting can be done using free weights (such as dumbbells and barbells), weight machines, resistance bands, or even bodyweight exercises.
There are different styles of weight lifting, including:
- Bodybuilding – Focuses on muscle size and definition.
- Powerlifting – Emphasizes maximum strength in three main lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.
- Olympic Weightlifting – Involves two explosive lifts: the snatch and the clean and jerk.
- Strength Training – Aims to improve overall muscle strength and endurance, often used for general fitness or athletic performance.
Weight lifting has many benefits, including increased muscle mass, improved bone density, better metabolism, and enhanced overall physical health.
